A Different Season
Hello everyone! These past few months have definitely been a different season for me. It’s been about 4 months since the students from the DTS went back home. Since then I have taken time to adjust more to life on the base. I first took three weeks to rest and host my parents when they came to visit! They stayed for a few nights here on the base. It was wonderful to have them see where I live and work. Saying goodbye was hard but our time together was so valuable and I believe really helped me in this season of transition. Now when I talk about my friends and work they are able to understand my life a bit better.
My weeks look very different in this season between DTS schools. Most days I spend supporting the base through running the coffee corner, leading base worship and helping out at other worship times. I am involved with leading our worship nights on base and its been exciting to see how God has been growing that. We hold these worship nights once a month, and slowly but surely more people are joining us, not just from the base but also people outside. People searching for Jesus, either to encounter him for the first time or to have a fresh encounter with him.

I will also co-lead a worship time for the Missions Fest, which was a big open day we have here at Heidebeek annually. We had over 900 people signed up to come. It was a day where we invited people to come and learn more about missions. We held seminars, tours and services for the purpose of showing people what life is like on missions. Here is a small sneak peak into how the day went.
I recently had a few opportunities to teach. I got to teach in the music track in the January DTS on worship and intimacy and to teach on worship as lifestyle in a youth small group that meets on our base once a week. It’s been such a blessing and an honour to be given these opportunities to teach on subjects so close to my heart.
I also had to opportunity to travel to YWAM Paris for a week to receive more training on how to be a better DTS staff. I learned so much in this week about the heart and vision for DTS’s and was also able to connect with people from other bases and learn from them.
On Tuesdays we gather together in the DTS department to update one another on the schools, pray and evangelise. We also have started preparing for the upcoming September DTS. This year I will be leading the music track, so I will be in charge of figuring out a schedule, creating vision and asking speakers. Already we have 6 students accepted and a few more in process. All these students are internationals! Only one of the students needs a visa, and most are still in need of finances, so please pray along with us for Gods provision.
And in further news, I would like to introduce you to Stephan. Stephan and I have been in a relationship now for around 8 weeks. He has been staff here at YWAM Heidebeek for almost four years now, working in the September DTS’s and also has a big passion for worship. We’ve known each other for almost three years and are excited to see what God has planned for us. He will be joining me this summer when I come home to Canada for a few weeks, so a lot of you will get to meet him!
From June 18- July 23 I will be in Canada for vacation and furlough. During this time my sister will be graduating high school, my father will have his birthday, my parents will have there wedding anniversary, and Stephan will get to meet the family. I am really looking forward to this trip to reconnect with my family, friends and country.
I also would love to connect with you!
Newsletters can only share so much and I would love to connect in person when I am home. If you are interested in meeting up please feel free to message me.
One last thing… I thought it would be nice to show you around the base on which I live. It’s such an honour to be able to live in such a beautiful place with such a wonderful community.
